Spring

For me, Spring is a time of rejuvenation. I struggle with cold, gray winters. Generally, my thoughts are occupied with metaphysical thinking during that time of year: What’s it all about? Why are we here? Is there a God, and if so can he/she/it make it WARM AND SUNNY PLEASE?

But then Spring arrives, and I feel like I can shake off the chains of winter and my mind and body come alive again just like the world around me.

Classical music is so fantastic at eliciting human emotion, and capturing the natural world around us.

So today, here’s a little taste of classical music “spring” music at its finest: Copland’s “Appalachian Spring” (Recording below from the New York Philharmonic, conducted by Leonard Bernstein).

Sit down, have a drink, open the windows, let the wind come in, and open your ears to these warm melodies. They sound like open, green, sunny, spring days and the feeling of love that seems to be beckoned by this change of weather.
